Since introducing the registration system to the site on 11 November, many of you were experiencing infuriating problems with the login process. I was eventually advised by the developer of the software that it could be a caching problem, which is why I kept advising people to logout, clear their browser cache, and then login again.
This appeared to work; but it came to light because it looked as though once corrected it was sorted. But no, many new subscribers were getting these problems, and some who had had it once had it happening again.
I chased the developer again who said that it is a caching problem, but not only individual people’s computers, but on the webhost’s server.
That was it and, after one day of switching the login module off, doing the necessary to sort this out, I turned it back on again this morning at 0900 GMT.
It is now over six hours since I turned it on, and I have not one person contact me. I see there are 67 visitors online at the moment, and I can only assume they are all happy bunnies (as am I)
So, apologies for not identifying the problem sooner, but now we are back up.
(You will notice I have had time to resume my main task of creating rehearsal files – see above)
Cheers,
JohnF

The big news story of the week is that I have introduced a registration system for the site.
Visitors may browse the Menu pages without registering, and I’ve provided two example pages for people to try out.
To get into the site proper, for access to out-of-copyright material you just sign-up to the “Free” membership option; but to get access to all the music on the site, you need to have one of the two paid-for options. I believe that, at £10.00 per year for individuals, and £40.00 per year for choirs, it shouldn’t be too onerous.
There have been a few glitches over the first couple of days; I have put some advice here.
Cheers,
JohnF

Website news
I have been informed by my host that I’m nearing the limit on the number of files I am allowed on my present hosting plan. As I intend to keep on adding new files it was logical that I should upgrade to the Pro version.
The Pro version means that I get unlimited file storage, but also move on to a server that has only 20% of the number of clients as opposed to my previous plan. This should mean the site runs faster.
There is an increase in cost for me but, at the moment, the kind donations I receive cover my expenses. I will keep monitoring this, and won’t make a decision about recommending a higher donation rate until after the New Year.
So, the upgrade has gone through, although there some minor hitches on the way which meant the site was down for a couple of periods, one yesterday and one today. Hopefully the site is now working and stable.
Cheers,
JohnF
